Connecting your Microsoft account to TrulyInbox is straightforward and secure. Whether you use Outlook.com, Hotmail, or Microsoft 365 for business, the connection process uses Microsoft's OAuth authentication to protect your credentials and ensure safe access.
This guide walks you through the complete connection process and explains what to expect at each step.
TrulyInbox supports all major Microsoft email services, including:
Personal Accounts:
Business and Enterprise Accounts:
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365)
All account types use the same secure OAuth connection method, ensuring consistent setup regardless of your plan type.
OAuth is Microsoft's recommended authentication method for third-party applications. Instead of sharing your password with TrulyInbox, OAuth creates a secure access token that can be managed and revoked directly from your Microsoft account settings.
This approach provides:
Better security by eliminating password exposure
Controlled access that you can revoke at any time
Compliance with Microsoft's security policies
OAuth is the safest and most reliable way to connect Microsoft accounts to external tools.
Log in to your TrulyInbox account and click the Add Email Account

From the list of available email providers, choose Microsoft or Outlook. This initiates the OAuth authentication flow.

You will be redirected to Microsoft's secure login page. Enter your Microsoft email address and password.

If you have two-factor authentication enabled on your Microsoft account, you will be prompted to complete the verification step using your chosen method (authenticator app, SMS, or email code).
Microsoft will display a permissions screen showing what access TrulyInbox is requesting. The permissions typically include:
Read and send an email to enable warmup and outreach functionality
Access to mailbox settings for folder management and filtering
Offline access to maintain a connection without requiring repeated logins
These permissions are necessary for TrulyInbox to function properly. Review them carefully before proceeding.
Click Accept or Allow to authorize TrulyInbox. Microsoft will generate a secure access token and redirect you back to TrulyInbox.
Once redirected, TrulyInbox will confirm that your Microsoft account has been successfully connected. Your email account will now appear in your account list and will be ready for warmup or sending configuration.
During the OAuth flow, Microsoft clearly explains what permissions are being requested and why. These prompts are standard for any application connecting to Microsoft services.
Common permission requests include:
Read and write access to your mailbox so TrulyInbox can send warmup emails and manage inbox activity
Access to user profile information to identify the connected account
Maintain access when you're not present so warmup can run automatically without requiring you to log in repeatedly
If you're unsure about any permission, you can cancel the connection and reach out to support for clarification before proceeding.
Once your Microsoft account is connected:
Authentication is complete and your credentials remain secure with Microsoft
TrulyInbox can access your mailbox according to the permissions you granted
Warmup or other enabled features can begin based on your account settings
You can manage or revoke access at any time through your Microsoft account's connected apps settings.
If you ever need to disconnect TrulyInbox from your Microsoft account, you can do so in two ways:
From TrulyInbox: Remove the email account from your TrulyInbox dashboard.
From Microsoft: Visit your Microsoft account security settings, navigate to Apps & Services, locate TrulyInbox, and revoke access.
Revoking access immediately stops all activity between TrulyInbox and your mailbox.
If you encounter issues during connection:
Permission errors: Ensure your Microsoft account has the necessary privileges, especially for Microsoft 365 business accounts where admin approval may be required.
Redirect failures: Clear your browser cache or try using a different browser.
Two-factor authentication delays: Complete the verification step fully before proceeding.
If issues persist, the support team is available to assist with connection troubleshooting.
Connecting your Microsoft account via OAuth is secure, straightforward, and recommended by Microsoft. The process protects your credentials while giving TrulyInbox the access needed to improve your email deliverability and manage warmup effectively.
If you have questions about permissions or the connection process, support is always available to help.
